Demo server is (was) back
The Kontrollbase demo server will be back online this week. In order to give you, the users, a taste of free monitoring and all of the benefits of Kontrollbase without the work of installing the application we are offering to monitor your servers for free. We will be offering a full privacy contract, only collecting the usual database status and variable data, and offering you free computing resources for the analytics and performance reports – as well as all of the other features of Kontrollbase. Think of this like getting free Gomez monitoring for your web servers – except it’s for MySQL.
You will have a secure login over a SSL encrypted browser connection, all of the monitoring is done over an encrypted SSH connection, your servers will not be able to be seen by any other users, and you’ll get 24×7 access to reports and alerts. If you so choose you can also have data purged from the system on a weekly or monthly basis. If you are interested please contact support@kontrollsoft.com to begin your free remote monitoring service. We are offering this to a limited number of users so respond as soon as possible.
We’ll be running the demo server on two Amazon EC2 instances. The webapp will be served on a m1.xlarge instance with quad-cores and 16G of ram, and the database layer will run on a m2.2xlarge instance with quad cores and 32G of ram. Both are running Fedora 8 64bit OS and the database will be utilizing MySQL 5.0.86 Percona HighPerf release b19. Should prove to be a good test of EC2 services as well as the horizontal scalability of Kontrollbase.
UPDATE 2009-11-11: scalability was great, performance was excellent but resulted in an unexpectedly large usage bill so free monitoring is not being offered until we find a cheaper solution.
